Now the only negative thing that I have to say about this app, is that you are limited to a one page chord chart I’m assuming this dates back to when the app was originally made, and since it was meant for just having a chord progression to solo over, you didn’t really need a whole song. Here is a picture of common jazz notation symbols: Jazz Notation – Chord Symbols My Only Negative You can tell iReal Pro to display minor chords as “m” instead of the jazz default of “-” but the rest of the symbols cannot be changed. This short video will give you an overview on the basics of using iReal Pro (using chord charts, exporting audio or pdf files, displaying chord diagrams in real time – super cool feature!):Įditing And Creating Chord Charts in iReal ProĪs I mention in the video above, iReal Pro does use jazz notation symbols for chords, so you will need to get used to those (but it’s not that big a deal and hey – learning is fun!). But I found the easiest way to look for a song was just to google “song name iReal Pro” and if there was one in the iReal Pro forums, my search results would give me a link that takes me right to the song so that works really well. One thing I did want to mention is that while you can browse the user forums and search for songs within that interface, I found it a bit clumsy to use (I may also just have been too lay to get familiar with it □ ). Given that the songs are user contributed, you may need to edit the one you download to your liking (transpose it, modify chords etc) but that is simple to do. iReal Pro chord charts are user contributed, and there are THOUSANDS of users constantly contributing more – at the time of this review, look at how many songs in different genres are available: iReal Pro Songs Keep in mind that these are just some default playlists of popular songs to get you started – there are thousands more songs that you can download chord charts for. If you click the globe in the top left and then click “Main Playlists” you will see this screen where you can either browse these playlists and download songs one at a time or you can just grab the whole list (I downloaded the pop and blues playlists so I immediately had over 400 songs on my device): iReal Pro Default Playlists These are just pre-chosen chord charts of popular songs from various genres – they don’t take up alot of space, and this way you can search the songs on your device instead of having to search them online and download one at a time. To get started, the best thing to do is download some default playlists that iReal Pro has assembled. And you can buy additional style packs such as Blues for around $5 if you like. So you get style categories like Jazz, Latin and Pop, each of which have many sub styles within so you can customize how you want your song to sound. When you buy iReal Pro and download it to your device (I paid around $21 CDN so about $16 US), you get access to all of the chord charts in the database, and you also get access to the default “styles” for playing back your song. Screen Shot Of iReal Pro on iPad How Does It Work (And How Much Does it Cost)? display piano, guitar, ukulele chord diagrams or music notation of chords in real time (great for learning!).export your song as a PDF chord chart to share with others.export your song to an audio file (.WAV) to use as a backing track.transpose to different keys (you will see the chords change accordingly).choose from quite a few instrument choices for backing and adjust the mix or even mute some (guitars, keyboards, bass and drums).create your own chord chart from scratch.download a chord chart for a song from a massive library (and you can edit it if you like). There are some things that are still present in the app including some “jazz-centric” notation that I’ll be talking about so let’s get into it. iReal Pro was originally developed as a tool for jazz soloists (guitarists, pianists, horn players, etc) that would play a jazz chord progression for them to practice their soloing over. So what is iReal Pro? It is an app that at this moment in time is available for iOS, Android and Macs, and I will be reviewing the iOS version that I use on my iPad. This is my review for the iReal Pro backing tracks app this is a super cool app that you can use to download chord charts for songs, create your own chord charts from scratch, and then use the app to play backing for you in multiple styles with various instruments. In 19 Crumb had a number of Fritz the Cat strips published in the men’s magazine Cavalier. The relationship was unstable as Crumb frequently went his own way, and he was not close to his son Jesse (b. Nearly destitute, the couple traveled in Europe, during which Crumb continued to produce work for Kurtzman and American Greetings, and Dana stole food. Crumb briefly illustrated bubblegum cards for Topps before returning to Cleveland and American Greetings.Ĭrumb married Dana Morgan in 1964. Crumb moved to New York, intending to work with Kurtzman, but Help! ceased publication shortly after. In 1965, cartoonist Harvey Kurtzman printed some of Crumb’s work in the humor magazine he edited, Help!. Dissatisfied with greeting card work, he tried to sell cartoons to comic book companies, who showed little interest in his work. In Cleveland, he met a group of young bohemians such as Buzzy Linhart, Liz Johnston, and Harvey Pekar. He stayed with the company for four years, producing hundreds of cards for the company’s Hi-Brow line his superiors had him draw in a cuter style that was to leave a footprint on his work throughout his career. His first job, in 1962, was drawing novelty greeting cards for American Greetings in Cleveland, Ohio. Robert Dennis Crumb CareerĬrumb’s father gave him $40 when he left home after high school. At fifteen, Crumb collected classical to jazz and blues records from the 1920s to the 1940s. In 1958 the brothers self-published three issues of Foo in imitation of Harvey Kurtzman’s satirical Humbug and Mad which they sold door-to-door with little success, souring the young Crumb on the comic-book business. His cartooning developed as his older brother Charles pushed him and provided feedback. Inspired by Walt Kelly, Fleischer Brothers animation and others, Crumb and his brothers drew their own comics. The family moved to Milford, Delaware, when Crumb was twelve and where he was an average student whose teachers discouraged from cartooning. 1944), both of whom suffered from mental illness, and daughters Carol (b. He is married to cartoonist Aline Kominsky-Crumb, with whom he has frequently collaborated. In 1991, Crumb was inducted into the comic book industry’s Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame. As his career progressed, his comic work became more autobiographical. Much of his work appeared in a magazine he founded, Weirdo (1981–1993), which was one of the most prominent publications of the alternative comics era. In the mid-1970s, he contributed to the Arcade anthology following the decline of the underground, he moved towards biographical and autobiographical subjects while refining his drawing style, a heavily crosshatched pen-and-ink style inspired by late 19th- and early 20th-century cartooning. During this time, inspired by psychedelics and cartoons from the 1920s and 1930s, he introduced a wide variety of characters that became extremely popular, including countercultural icons Fritz the Cat and Mr. He was additionally contributing to the East Village Other and many other publications, including a variety of one-off and anthology comics. His work displays a nostalgia for American folk culture of the late 19th and early 20th centuries and satire of contemporary American culture.Ĭrumb is a prolific artist and contributed to many of the seminal works of the underground comix movement in the 1960s, including being a founder of the first successful underground comix publication, Zap Comix, contributing to all 16 issues. The Ear Cups are excellent, even with the slightly thicker than usual arms on my glasses they're fairly comfortable after even a 6hrs flight, one of the first things you'll probably notice is the slight curve of them now to hug your face a bit better and it definitely seems to be an improvement. I'll start with the build Quality, much like the Zulu2s the headsets themselves are sturdy, the mic boom seems to be greatly improved over the PFXs which I had trouble getting into a good position, this one is a bit stiffer and easy to place where you want it. Sorry for the late review, been a bloody busy couple of days but have used the new Zulu3s for about 30hrs now and felt it would be time to put up a short review as promised!! I also can't fault their customer service. My wife likes the Lightspeeds because they don't have a lot of clamping pressure. The Bose phones are a tighter fit - which helps with noise seal - but are deeper and seem to be a better shape (certainly for my ears). (Rechargeable battery life is about the same.)Īfter 12 months, the Lightspeeds needed new ear pads, the mic boom lost its ability to stay in place (it can't even be reversed for when you're sitting in the right-hand seat), and my ears always hurt after wearing them for extended periods - despite all that room, my ears always seemed to find the hard bits inside the cup to press against. They also seem to be more reliable with Bluetooth connections and have a better low-battery warning system. IMO, Bose A20as are better made, with better ANR, better alround sound and are simply more comfortable to wear for extended periods. I thought I'd save a few dollars and buy a pair of Zulu 2s over the Bose A20s - ostensibly because the Bose phones didn't have Bluetooth at the time - but after 12 months I came to my senses and bought a set of A20s anyway. Lightspeed said they were more than happy to carry the warranty (5 years) over to me. I picked mine up for $800 within only 3 months worth of use on it. Invest in a decent charging station and some high quality batteries and you will break even at the 400-500 hour mark. But given the predictable 25 hours of use, it isn't an issue. Emailed lightspeed and they said they are safe to use, just wont get the low battery warning. I don't have the issue with batteries being costly. I get around 25 hours from a set of batteries, with the usual bluetooth and music streaming while flying. 8 hour days don't leave me with a headache and the kevlar cable is second to none. Noise cancelling is amazing! Gap in the seal can be annoying at times, but all ANR sets seem to experience this. I don't find the control box too cumbersome, as I am not holding it and it sits nicely in one of the map pockets. had it for over 500 hours in loud pistons. I'm pleased to note the new Zulu 3 has the same cable! I'm thinking very seriously about "down"-grading to the Z3 in the near future. I've not seen equivalent or better on any other headset. And before people pounce on me re battery-life & bluetooth use -nope, I RARELY activate bluetooth because of the impact on already piss-poor battery life.Īnother very strong point of the PFX is the cable used. The clarity of calls and music (bluetooth) has to be experienced to be believed. The odd noises (some Very loud, especially as the batteries weaken) are distracting, annoying, uncomfortable and IMO unacceptable from a "premium" product such as this.įar from being all bad though, when working well, the ANR performance is superb. But even with batteries I have purchased in AUS and carried here, the life is poor. Battery life on the PFX is horrendous -but that's partially due to the very poor quality of the batteries available here in Indonesian Papua. If I still had that, it's what I'd be using. The headset is in daily use, 4-6hrs a day. Like previous posters, I upgraded from Zulu 2 to PFX 18 months or so ago. If you have one or more diabetes risk factors, you may be at increased risk of developing diabetes while taking statins.
Indeed, so good is the refinement that we kept noticing an odd liquid-noise from behind the dashboard, almost like a distantly-flushing toilet. When that happens, that 1.5-litre three-cylinder unit is raspy, but smooth and characterful, and it never raises its voice further than a distant rumble so refinement is excellent. The powertrain seems mostly well-judged and on a full battery you should be able to get a solid 40-45km out of a charge before the call for help from the petrol engine. The only giveaway is the ride quality, which is a little sharper over bumps, but we suspect that you could dial some of that back by dropping down an inch or two from the 20-inch alloys of our test car. The P300e is also very good at disguising the fact that it's heavier at the kerb than a standard model (clocking in at a significant 2,138kg here) and there's little-to-no sense through the steering, or in any extra body lean, that it's packing extra mass. Little has changed, then, in the switch to plug-in-hybrid power and, while it never feels quite as sharp to drive as its slightly smaller brother, the Range Rover Evoque, the Discovery Sport is still a really pleasant thing to conduct along a winding road. The standard Discovery Sport is one of the nicest and sweetest mid-size SUVs to drive, with lovely feel to the steering and excellent cornering balance. Fuel consumption is rated at 2.0 litres per 100km, while CO 2 emissions are just 44g/km. Combined, the power output is 309hp (hence the slightly inaccurate P300e badge) with a healthy 540Nm of torque. Fully charge that battery (which takes slightly less than an hour-and-a-half from a home 7.4kW charging point) and you can drive on just electric power for as much as 55km, according to Land Rover. It's assisted by an 80kW electric motor that draws its power from a rechargeable 15kWh battery pack. Although clearly related to the existing 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo 'Ingenium' engine family, this one is a three-cylinder unit of 1.5-litre capacity, which Land Rover says is some 37kg lighter than an equivalent four-cylinder. There might yet be some compelling reasons to buy this plug-in Discovery Sport, the P300e model, after all, though. The fact that the electric motor is mounted under the boot floor means that there's no option for a third row of seats, so if you need to carry lots of people, you’ll have to stick with diesel or petrol power. Sadly though, you can't have this Discovery Sport with its usual USP of seven seats. Boot space is excellent, with 963 litres available (Land Rover measures these things to the roof, not to the luggage cover as do most manufacturers) and 1,794 litres with the rear seats folded. Ditto the digital instruments, which look a little cheap, graphically speaking.Ĭabin space is, of course, a Discovery Sport strong point, with lounging legroom in the back seats. There's also the fact that the Discovery Sport has not yet received Land Rover's latest-spec 'Pivi Pro' infotainment system - the old infotainment is fine, but falling a bit behind the times. The layout on the centre-console looks sleek, but it does take a bit of getting your head around, especially as you have to press some buttons to call up different functions for the handsome, tactile, rotary controllers. Inside, the cabin - once again - clearly lifts its basic style and shapes from the old model, but the detailing and the perceived quality are in another league compared with the first-gen Sport. Which is grand - handsomeness has never been lacking in the Discovery Sport's armoury. The smoother grille and lights lend it a slightly classier air than that of the old model, but the uneducated eye would struggle to tell the two apart at a distance. This Discovery Sport P300e plug-in hybrid gets an electric rear-axle and a new 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, but does it live up to its premium billing? In the metalĮven though the Discovery Sport, updated only last year, isn't really a new car at all, but rather a thoroughly re-engineered and re-skinned version of the 2014 original, it's still a very striking-looking car. Land Rover, at long last, adds electric power to its best-selling models. Yusuke gives the elixir to Keiko, and her transformation is reversed. The Forlorn Hope was destroyed, but Hiei was vanquished. Yusuke had used the Forlorn Hope, which had fallen on the floor in the battle, to bounce the Spirit Gun back and hit Hiei. However, Hiei is still struck from behind by the blast. Yusuke tries to shoot Hiei with his Spirit Gun, but misses due to Hiei’s swift speed. Hiei realizes that Yusuke becomes much more powerful the more the people he care about are put at risk, so he decides to end the battle once and for all. Kurama goes to help Botan keep Keiko from transforming while Yusuke fights Hiei once more. With the eye blinded, Yusuke becomes unbound. He cuts himself on the blade and throws the blood back in Hiei’s Jagan eye. Just as he’s about to finish off Yusuke for good, Kurama suddenly bursts in and steps in the way of his sword strike. Yusuke is able to get in some good shots, but Hiei quickly regains the upper hand, binding Yusuke with chains of demonic energy. Botan struggles even more upon this transformation as Keiko’s new demon eye starts feeding on Hiei’s demonic energy. Hiei is incredibly fast and powerful, especially once he transforms into his full demon state. Botan uses her Spirit Energy to help keep the eye from closing while Yusuke battles Hiei, but the battle is very one-sided. Only the elixir stored in the sword’s hilt can change her back. In moments, when the third eye on her head opens wide, Keiko will become a mindless demon slave. Hiei reveals that he’s struck Keiko with the Shadow Sword. His plot works, and Yusuke hands over the Orb of Baast and the Forlorn Hope to Hiei, but this face-off is far from over. In order to get Yusuke to hand over the other two artifacts willingly, Hiei kidnaps Keiko and holds her hostage. Yusuke has one more artifact to retrieve – The Shadow Sword – and it’s in the hands of his toughest enemy yet, Hiei – the fire apparition with a third Jagan eye that grants him great power. Pressing Spirit World matters come first before Yusuke’s love life, however. As a result, she believes there’s something romantic going on between them. They act suspicious around her, since Yusuke is trying to keep his Spirit Detective job a secret from her. Things aren’t all great though, as Keiko spots Yusuke and Botan hanging out. Botan has used her healing powers to help Yusuke recover for his next battle, and Kurama has been freed by the Spirit World punishment board on good behavior.
