I found a lot of neat little things I never got to see in the summer (partly because Puggles my dog was tugging me through the trail like a horse pulling me through every horrible thing imaginable) so I’d like to share some of those now. The trail holds up to it’s name “Rock Ledge” with numerous sitings, although, I’m sure in the fall they’re more noticeable.Īnd if you can manage some tree jumping you can see the view of Lake Jacomo.Īnd here are some of the images from my early spring hike. I unfortunately found out the hard way whether that path was the right way or not.Īlong the way there are usually Missouri wildflowers found, like the white variety.Īnd poisonous but beautiful mushrooms like this Emetic Russula, or at least I’m pretty sure that’s what this one is. Also, there are times where the trail looks like it splits or that there are other ways to go and my best advice is to follow the one you think looks the most beaten. There are steep inclines and descents if you want to get to the lake. Needless to say, it was hilarious and disgusting, but not something I wanted to do again.Īfter learning the hard way about things like bug protection I invested in some bug proof clothing and set out on this trail one more time. What I got was hundreds of seed ticks on both the dog and I, and a half finished trail. Of course, I just went out and did it and also took my 90lb dog with me because I thought it’d be a great bonding experience. In the summer was when I decided I was going to get back into hiking and start this blog (Yay!). So I’d like to share some of the pros and cons of this trail…. Also, I feel like this trail needs some redemption I got the chance to hike it in the beginning of the summer, and again at the tail end of winter. This trail can be accessed by the sign or over by the picnic tables and is part mowed and dirt.
